CONVERSATION | 2017
The work holds a space before an idea is fully realized, when it gradually gives up the freedom of being a vision. It explores the transition of two-dimensional shapes into objects that are situated on the body; the formal gestures that occur in response to gravity, function and site. I think about the work as an open conversation with no definite conclusion, only attempts to find one. There is both loss and magic in resolving a visual thought; in verbalizing and materializing it. As in a drawing, the work is assembled by fragments of thinking captured in lines, shapes, marks and punctuations of color. The idea lives in the collective of the many marks that collaborate to describe it.
